Wood really requires some maintenance, but the effort needed to keep wood in good condition is a bit "inflated" and used as a disadvantage of wooden structures. So, the question is: What exactly does maintenance of a wooden winter garden treated by modern surface finishers mean? Or which material does not need maintenance?
Development in the field of surface treatment has resulted in high quality methods with long-lasting effects in the recent years. The stains protecting wood for many years represent minimal maintenance compared to the surface treatment from 15-30 years ago. The currently used wood stains have excellent properties (excellent adhesion to the wood surface, excellent elasticity, ability to let moisture, protect of the wood from penetration of water, colour fastness, etc.).
Each customer should be interested in how long the surface treatment will last and when it will be necessary to renew the paint (it should be noted that the restoration of the paint is performed ONLY from the exterior). However, we are not able to determine the exact time when the surface renewal is needed. The information is not secret, but we have never used a 3-generation surface treatment that would need to be repaired. We have already seen our customer's nine-year-old windows sprayed with 3 generation wood stain (ADLER) and they were in excellent condition. From a practical point of view, refurbishment of the surface treatment is estimated to be necessary after about 10-12 years. After subsequent adjustment, the service life will be extended by another 10 years (in 22-25 years - 1 refurbishment). The renewal of the surface treatment is provided by specialized companies in this sector, they will make a completely new coating of your winter garden within 2-3 days.
Of course, if the customer is discouraged by the need of refurbishment, than choosing the TOP alternative – wood-aluminium combination is an ideal solution, as the lifetime of such a winter garden is 40-50 years (more about WOOD-ALUMINIUM).
